The two travellers were competing in the Paris Marathon, so looking for comfort, space, a kitchen for pre-race carb loading, and close proximity to the start line to avoid time in cabs. They talk about ‘the kind of comforts you just don’t get in hotels … most crucially, a kitchen stocked with everything needed to whip up a post-race recovery meal’.
