Keynote Speaker: Simon Calder

Back for 2024 after an unforgettable appearance in 2019 when he predicted an oncoming global pandemic… we were still delighted to welcome Simon back!

Ahead of the Conference, Simon said about the sector: “In the five years since I last joined an ASAP Conference, the hospitality industry has endured its greatest challenges in modern history.

“The Serviced Living sector has not only survived the pandemic – it has grown and matured, and I look forward to exploring the opportunities for future growth of serviced apartments around the world.”

His talk was described as ‘inspirational’, ‘hilarious’, ‘good-humoured’ and ‘rock solid industry insights’. It would be brilliant if Simon could join us again.

What we enjoyed from the Conference:

Informative, inspirational, serious, thought-provoking, uplifting, funny, full of tips and ideas, and lots of opportunities to network with friends old and new…

The event introduced new ideas, shared innovations, and provided more than 5 hours of networking opportunities. We explored the latest industry data and insights, addressing challenges and highlighting opportunities through an engaging programme of keynote speakers, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and seminars.

The opening speeches introduced the concept of Connecting the World of Serviced Living, while the State of the Nation panel of industry experts updated on the sector right now, across the UK, Europe, APAC and the Americas. We Met The Buyers, or joined a breakout session policy, regulation and investment trends. There was a travel Data and Market Insights session from STR and Shiji, or a breakout session on staffing, how to hire and how to retain your teams.

Lunch allowed 90 minutes to network and browse the exhibition stands, followed by a session hosted by a panel of accommodation Agents, or a DE&I Masterclass on Creating Safe Spaces for All Guests. The conference was wrapped up by our keynote speaker Simon Calder followed by networking with friends old and new, during the Drinks Reception Sponsored by Res:Harmonics.

You don’t need to be an ASAP Member to join us at any of our Annual Conferences, we will always be happy to meet you there and explain the benefits of joining this dynamic group.

Supporting Prostate Cancer UK

At this Conference, we were proud to be fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK in support of our own ASAP CEO James Foice, who is battling this hideous disease.

Fundraising began ahead of the Conference and continued on the 28th November, where attendees could buy merchandise and donate online, or at any point via our JustGiving Page.

During the day our initial target of £3,000 was exceeded, which meant that Kearon McCarthy from ASAP Operator Member Staycity had to submit to having his beard shaved off by the highest bidders, who were from Situ and CAP Worldwide.

Thank you Kearon! Donations have to date now exceeded £6,230.

Our aim is for all men to receive regular, preventative screening, and make it as normal as the various women’s cancer screening programmes. Thank you.
