Richard is the founder of nowandnext.com, a website that documents global trends, is an external lecturer at London Business School, and a member of Stratforma – a specialist scenario planning consultancy.
He has written numerous books including: Beyond Busy (2025), The Children’s Book of the Future (2024), Digital Versus Human (2017), The Future: 50 Ideas you Really Need to Know (2012), Future Vision: Scenarios for the World in 2040 (2012), Future Minds: How the Digital Age is Changing Our Minds (2010) and Future Files: 5 Trends for the Next 50 Years (2007).
He has also contributed to various publications worldwide, including Fast Company (US) Retail Banking Review (Aus) and Future Orientation (Denmark).
Richard’s areas of expertise include the social dimensions of emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence, and his speaking topics include food, water, energy, travel & tourism, education and work.

The event introduced new ideas, shared innovations, and provided more than 5 hours of networking opportunities. We explored the latest industry data and insights, addressing challenges and highlighting opportunities through an engaging programme of keynote speakers, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and seminars.
The opening speeches introduced the concept of Connecting the World of Serviced Living, while the State of the Nation panel of industry experts updated on the sector right now, across the UK, Europe, APAC and the Americas. We Met The Buyers, or joined a breakout session policy, regulation and investment trends. There was a travel Data and Market Insights session from STR and Shiji, or a breakout session on staffing, how to hire and how to retain your teams.
Lunch allowed 90 minutes to network and browse the exhibition stands, followed by a session hosted by a panel of accommodation Agents, or a DE&I Masterclass on Creating Safe Spaces for All Guests. The conference was wrapped up by our keynote speaker Simon Calder followed by networking with friends old and new, during the Drinks Reception Sponsored by Res:Harmonics.
