Plans to demolish a Victorian printworks in Glasgow city centre and build an 18-storey Radisson aparthotel have drawn objections over the former factory’s sandstone facade, which would leave only the adjoining rounded frontage on Howard Street retained.
McCorquodales was one of the largest printers in the UK, which opened its Glasgow works in the 1870s.
In a letter to the council, MSP Paul Sweeney said he objected to the application “in the strongest possible terms (as it) remains an important part of Glasgow’s architectural and industrial heritage.”
