According to an article in ‘Landlord Today’, Airbnb says it will continue to share hosting data with the UK’s tax authority HMRC, because its landlord hosts want to pay their fair share of tax.

Since January 1 2024, all digital short let platforms are now obliged to share information with tax authorities each January, starting in 2025. Under these new rules, for those eligible for the Rent-a-Room scheme, hosting income is tax free up to £7,500 per year. The typical Host on Airbnb in the UK earns around £6,200 a year.
