In the wake of the UK Government’s Call for Evidence on the need for a check-based tourist accommodation scheme in England, UKHospitality has urged them to create a “level playing field” for all accommodation providers.

UKHospitality’s Kate Nicholls highlighted that a registration scheme for all short-term let properties would build a “fairer, safer and more sustainable industry”, adding that it would have other benefits such as ensuring all short-let accommodation was safe for consumers, and would help address the imbalance between short- and long-term rentals in rural and coastal towns and tourism hot spots.
